Spring time at OTA means hard work for the 8th grade class, as they are working on their Community projects. At OTA, an IB, (International Baccalaureate) school in 8th grade it is required that they do a project that will positively influence the community. We interviewed a group of 3 8th grade students, currently working on their project. of OTA. These students’ names are Jocelyn Burdick, Raley Becker and Maki Hibbs. For their project they are making kits for patients at Rondall’s hospital. The kits include toothpaste, deodorant, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, chapsticks and blankets. They are making these kits because for example if a parent’s child has to be there for a certain amount of days, the parents will not have to worry about their child when they are gone. Also it is a stress reliever both on the parent and the child but not only to the family it is also helpful for the hospital. When first planning this project they thought they were first going to do a toy drive. After thinking it over they decided to do something a little more creative. Their goal is to get the donations done by April 15th 2022, then to have completed it by May. Where they are at currently with their project is asking for donations for funds and direct products from local businesses.
